About the Role
As Head of Retail, you will lead the wholesale function and drive expansion across retail and distribution channels. You will be responsible for both strategy and execution, setting the vision for retail growth while directly managing key accounts and partnerships.

This role sits at the intersection of brand, sales, and operations. You will work closely with ecommerce, marketing, finance, and operations teams to ensure retail initiatives are profitable, scalable, and aligned with broader business goals. The right candidate brings strong retail instincts, a hands-on approach, and a proven ability to grow national and big-box relationships.

The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates in the tri-state area who can attend in-person meetings periodically.

What You Will Do Retail Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop and execute retail growth strategies that balance new account acquisition with expansion of existing partnerships
  • Set wholesale sales targets and account strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals
  • Define channel priorities that support long-term brand and business growth

Account Management and Execution

  • Oversee day-to-day wholesale account management including product placement, promotions, and performance tracking
  • Directly manage key retail relationships and pitch new business opportunities
  • Identify and pursue new distribution channels and retail partners

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing, operations, and finance to align retail strategies with inventory, pricing, and promotional plans
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for retail partners, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships

Reporting and Insights

  • Track and report on wholesale performance, account health, and market trends
  • Provide data-driven insights on channel growth, profitability, and expansion opportunities

Strategic Oversight and Hands-On Ownership

  • Own high-level negotiations, contract strategy, and partner relationships
  • Stay actively involved in pitching, closing, and growing accounts

  • A strategic yet execution-focused retail leader who enjoys owning outcomes end to end
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, multi-brand ecommerce environments
  • A strong relationship builder with experience managing national and big-box retailers
  • Data-driven, organized, and highly collaborative
  • Adaptable to market shifts and competitive dynamics

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in wholesale, retail sales, or business development within consumer goods or DTC brands
  • Demonstrated success launching and scaling products with national or big-box retailers
  • Strong understanding of retail economics, margin structures, and promotional planning
  • Experience negotiating complex retail agreements and managing high-value accounts
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in high-growth environments
  • Strong forecasting, reporting, and performance management skills

Tools You Will Use

  • Retail account management and inventory tools
  • Excel or Google Sheets for forecasting and reporting
  • Slack, Notion, and project management tools
