We are currently supporting a bold, consumer focused brand as they build out a fast-growing consumables portfolio and look for a Product Development Manager, Consumables to take full ownership of this category.
This is a rare opportunity to own an entire consumables product line from concept through launch. You will be the driving force behind what customers use every day, shaping both what is inside the package and how it shows up in the world.
This role goes beyond traditional product management. You will lead innovation across formulations, packaging, sustainability, and supplier strategy while keeping the customer experience and company mission front and center. If you enjoy building products from scratch, working cross functionally, and seeing your ideas go from lab to shelf, this role offers real impact and ownership.
This position follows a hybrid schedule with regular in person collaboration at a New York based office.
What You Will Own
- Lead the full product lifecycle for consumables, from ideation and consumer insights to formulation, packaging development, pilot runs, and commercial launch
- Develop clear product briefs that balance brand standards, consumer needs, sustainability goals, and cost targets
- Partner with contract manufacturers, labs, and packaging suppliers to develop, test, and scale new products
- Manage supplier relationships, pricing, MOQs, and quality standards while supporting rapid innovation
- Own packaging development including bottles, closures, labels, and refill systems with a focus on sustainability and usability
- Ensure regulatory and compliance readiness across all products including required testing, certifications, and claims validation
- Drive margin improvement through COGS analysis and cost optimization initiatives
- Partner with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and CX to deliver on time product launches
- Analyze product performance and customer feedback to inform improvements and future launches
- Champion innovation in recurring use products including refill formats and sustainable materials
- Act as the internal subject matter expert for consumables, advising on trends, regulations, and customer behavior
What We Are Looking For
- 5 or more years of experience in CPG product development across supplements, personal care, household, or paper goods
- Hands on experience with product formulations and packaging development
- Strong vendor, project, and cross functional management skills
- Background in food science, chemistry, packaging science, engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience working in ecommerce, DTC, or startup environments with fast iteration cycles
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills
- A strong interest in sustainability, wellness, and consumer innovation
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to lead complex initiatives end to end
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 depending on experience
