About the Company: We are a fast-growing private equity firm focused on lower middle-market operational buyouts. We specialize in acquiring businesses and driving value through operational improvements. With a strong track record of success, we are seeking a hands-on CFO/Controller to join our team and play a critical role in shaping the future of our portfolio companies. 

About the Role: As the CFO/Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the firm’s portfolio companies while playing a key role in driving operational improvements and optimizing financial performance. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in lean environments and is ready to roll up their sleeves to tackle both strategic and day-to-day challenges.

You will work closely with the firm’s leadership to ensure that portfolio companies are operating efficiently, meeting financial targets, and delivering strong returns on investment. Your role will be crucial in improving operational efficiencies, financial reporting, and helping guide the overall financial strategy of the firm’s investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Oversight: Manage all financial functions of portfolio companies, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
• Operational Improvements: Work directly with leadership teams to drive operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve financial performance across multiple business functions, such as operations, IT, and HR.
• Analytical Leadership: Provide deep financial analysis to support decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
• Hands-On Role: Be willing to take on day-to-day tasks, even without a large team. You’ll be expected to lead by example, solving problems directly and ensuring operational and financial success.
• Process Optimization: Implement strategies to shorten reporting cycles, such as closing the books faster, and improve overall financial management.
• Investment Outcomes: Support the private equity firm’s investment strategies by maximizing returns on investment, managing cash flow, and ensuring strong financial health across all portfolio companies.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Private Equity Experience: Experience working within private equity-backed businesses, particularly operationally intensive buyouts.
• Hands-On Approach: A self-starter with the ability to work without large support teams, tackling challenges head-on.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience overseeing finance as well as other business areas such as operations, IT, HR, and the ability to lead across multiple departments.
• Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiencies, driving ROI, and delivering measurable financial improvements.
• Analytical Mindset: Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to dive into the numbers and provide actionable insights that drive value.
• Agility & Flexibility: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a willingness to adapt and take on new challenges.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including private equity or portfolio company experience.
• Proven experience with operational improvements and financial leadership in a hands-on environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering results in lean environments.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across teams.
