Senior Accountant – Hybrid (NY)

What you’ll be doing

• Partnering with the CFO and external partners to establish internal accounting controls and policies
• Leading the transition of bookkeeping and accounting functions from an outsourced firm to an in-house operation
• Building GAAP-compliant financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Preparing for and coordinating the company’s first external audit
• Owning monthly close activities and strengthening financial reporting processes
• Supporting investor and lender reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
• Assisting with budgeting and collaborating with business leaders to improve financial literacy
• Managing accounting entries and providing feedback on internal expense management tools
• Producing financial analyses and reports for leadership, board members, and committees
• Monitoring reporting deadlines and ensuring timely compliance
• Reviewing vendor contracts and providing financial insight for decision-making
• Managing payroll and expense reimbursements, both domestic and international
• Supporting tax reporting and compliance initiatives as needed

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA certification
• 4 to 7 years of progressive experience in public or private accounting
• Experience in startup or high-growth environments, ideally within fintech, healthcare technology, or financial services
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, and reporting standards
• Proven experience leading audits and building accounting systems
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and financial reporting tools
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset suited to a fast-paced environment
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams

The Details

• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Location: Hybrid (3 days in office) New York, NY
• Base Salary Range: $100,000 to $150,000
