Founding Engineer – Hybrid (NY)

The business has achieved strong product market fit, scaled quickly, and is still early enough for founding team members to meaningfully shape the product, systems, and culture.

What You Will Work On 

Real Time Detection Systems

• Build and scale AI driven detection systems that identify bad actors across marketplaces, social platforms, and the open web
• Improve speed, reliability, and coverage in constantly changing external environments
• Design systems that detect new threats as they appear

Autonomous Enforcement and Reporting

• Build automation that enables large scale reporting and enforcement workflows
• Design systems that support hundreds of clients and thousands of actions simultaneously
• Improve accuracy, throughput, and success rates across automated processes

What You Will Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and internal APIs
• Own features end to end from architecture through production
• Work primarily with modern web and backend infrastructure including Next.js and Postgres
• Leverage LLMs and automation to reduce manual work and accelerate development
• Collaborate closely with product, operations, and customer facing teams
• Make thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, and scale
• Continuously improve performance, reliability, and maintainability

What We Are Looking For

• 3 to 7 years of experience as a software engineer, ideally in a startup or high growth environment
• Strong experience building backend systems and internal APIs
• Comfort working with minimal process and high ownership
• Ability to turn vague problems into shipped solutions
• Strong judgment and independence in technical decision making
• Experience using AI and automation tools to move faster

Nice to Have

• Experience with large scale systems, scraping, automation, or data pipelines
• Background in eCommerce, marketplaces, or platform integrations

What matters most is your ability to design, own, and ship complete systems independently.
 
Compensation and Setup

• $150,000 to $200,000
• Full time, 4 days in-office role based in New York City
