Basic Purpose: The Controller is accountable for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring precise and timely reporting of corporate financials. This role encompasses comprehensive financial analysis, reconciliation, and the establishment of efficient processes to meet regulatory requirements. The Controller will play a pivotal role in fostering leadership, maintaining a professional working environment, and contributing to the company’s strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Contribute to budget and forecast processes and reconcile balance sheet accounts for accurate financial reporting.
  2. Facilitate the conversion of Audited P&L to the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI). Manage consolidated and individual reports, oversee year-end balance sheet reconciliations, and coordinate the 401k audit.
  3. Cultivate a professional working environment through open communication and excellence. Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports, provide bi-weekly updates to the CFO, and deliver monthly presentations to the Leadership Team.
  4. Establish and implement processes for tracking and reporting on Capital Expenditures (CapEx), ensuring timely reporting to lenders and delivering annual reports covering relevant financial aspects.
  5. Lead the evaluation and implementation of accounting processes and internal control procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy, maintaining compliance with GAAP and industry-specific standards.
  6. Undertake additional responsibilities or special projects as assigned by the CFO or executive leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or CPA designation preferred.
  • 7-10 years of progressive financial experience, with 3-5 years in a leadership role within the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics and Profit Sword.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and hospitality sector regulations.
  • Strong Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of tax regulations and compliance.
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality in financial reporting.
