Field Electrical Engineer – On-site (Indiana)

This is a hands on Field Electrical Engineer position for someone who thrives onsite, leads with confidence, and ensures electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned correctly in real world conditions.

Work Setup

• Position is 100 percent field based
• Local to Wabash required
• Onsite five days per week when not traveling
• Typical site rotations last one to two weeks
• Travel ranges from 50 to 80 percent depending on project load

What You Will Be Responsible For
Field Leadership and Contractor Oversight

• Lead all onsite electrical activities during installation, testing, and commissioning
• Manage electrical contractors and hold them accountable to quality, safety, and schedule
• Coordinate daily with customers, vendors, and site personne
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, IEC, and site safety requirements

Technical Execution and Troubleshooting

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and cable schedules
• Verify installation of power distribution, controls, sensors, instrumentation, and VFD systems
• Troubleshoot field issues and recommend corrective actions
• Perform inspections and document findings clearly

Project Coordination

• Maintain alignment with project schedules and construction milestones
• Track labor hours and support forecasting and resource planning
• Provide progress updates, as built documentation, and technical reports

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, controls engineers, and construction teams
• Serve as the onsite technical representative and point of escalation

What We Are Looking For

• 3 to 7 years of electrical engineering experience with strong field exposure
• Proven experience managing electrical contractors in industrial or construction environments
• Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings and schedules
• Experience with low voltage power distribution up to 480V
• Exposure to medium or high voltage systems up to 13.8kV is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting skills across controls, sensors, instrumentation, and VFDs
• Comfortable leading tradespeople and communicating clearly and assertively
• Willingness to travel extensively based on project needs
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools is helpful but not required

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary between $100,000 and $120,000
• Profit sharing bonus
