In honor of International Women’s Month, we spent our first ever volunteer day at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) South Florida with a hygiene packing party.

The event, called “Pack for Change,” is created in partnership with The Beauty Initiative Inc. to raise awareness about Menstrual Equity, collect donations of hygiene products, and help underserved women in the community get access to the products they need.

Jarvis employees and other volunteers proudly showcase the hygiene kits.

Last March 26th, eight volunteers from Jarvis Recruitment Group’s Miami office worked alongside other volunteers to pack 40 hygiene kits for female students in inner-city Miami. The kits consisted of shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, and other miscellaneous hygiene products. Our associates also wrote their own personalized motivational notes to be placed in each bag.

Our Jarvis associates packed several hygiene kits.

“Volunteerism has always been a fundamental part of our culture at Jarvis,” said Melissa Williams, People Operations Manager at Jarvis. “To give back, we actively involve ourselves in worthwhile efforts such as YWCA’s Pack for Change. The motivation comes from our purpose. We want to create a positive impact through advocacies.”

Jarvis employees make a quick camera pose while packing hygiene products.

Williams adds, “We firmly believe in the value of gender equality and empowering women. By taking part in YWCA, we hope to have made a lasting difference in the lives of the women and girls we’re helping.”

On top of volunteering, the company also donated 200 hygiene products for the cause.

The event was an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and help others in need. Our employees had an enjoyable time interacting with participants and helping them complete various tasks.

The YWCA and Why Jarvis Supports Them

Founded in 1919, the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the United States.

The non-profit has been at the vanguard of the most pressing social movements for over 160 years — from voting rights to civil rights, affordable housing to wage fairness, violence prevention to healthcare reform.

Diversity is a core belief at Jarvis, and we share YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and advocate for social justice.

How Jarvis Employees Benefit from Volunteering

As a multinational company, Jarvis strives to make a lasting positive impact in its host communities by working to establish partnerships with stakeholders through environmentally and socially conscious practices.

Employees at Jarvis are encouraged to volunteer in the community, either through participation in one of the company’s service projects or by volunteering independently.

Jarvis employees worldwide have volunteered their time and resources to support initiatives and projects they value- whether it be on education, health, racial justice, civil rights, or environmental conservation.

Last Note

Here at Jarvis, we believe corporate volunteer programs play a significant priority when candidates evaluate potential jobs.

Nearly two-thirds of young professionals say they prefer to work for a company that allows them to use their skills to help others, and more than half say they would accept lower pay if they knew they could make a greater contribution to society.

Jarvis Recruitment Group not only strives to create corporate volunteerism and address diversity issues within our organization, but we also help other companies in doing so.

We offer consultancy and methods in diversity talent acquisition management. We have vast expertise in conducting focused searches to improve diversity and help you place the right people in the right positions.
