Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Remote [US/CA]

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in building and operating the systems that keep products reliable, scalable, and available as the business continues to grow.
 
This is an opportunity for an experienced infrastructure engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, taking ownership of critical systems, and working in an environment where infrastructure decisions directly influence product performance and customer experience.
 
What You’ll Do
You’ll take ownership of infrastructure and platform initiatives, balancing hands-on engineering with technical leadership.

• Lead large, often ambiguous infrastructure projects from initial design through production operation.
• Own and operate Kubernetes infrastructure running on AWS EKS, managed through a Kubernetes orchestration platform.
• Establish and enforce Kubernetes best practices around resource management, health checks, autoscaling, pod disruption budgets, and graceful rollouts.
• Design and optimize deployments and cluster configurations to support zero-downtime releases and high availability.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines that enable teams to ship quickly, reliably, and safely.
• Strengthen observability, alerting, monitoring, and incident response practices across the platform.
• Partner closely with engineering, BizOps, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into reliable technical solutions.
• Help evolve infrastructure and data systems as products move from early-stage development toward greater scale.

What You Bring

• 8 to 12 years of deep Kubernetes experience, including production operations, best practices, troubleshooting, and performance tuning for highly available, zero-downtime environments.
• Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines at scale.
• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to optimize queries for performance and cost.
• A genuine interest in learning modern data engineering concepts, including lakehouse architectures, Iceberg, CDC, and transformation frameworks such as dbt or similar tools.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to work directly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take systems from architecture and design through implementation, operation, and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing cross-region architectures, including multi-region failover, disaster recovery, and data replication.
• Experience with cross-tenant or multi-tenant architectures.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, or other lakehouse catalog technologies.
• Experience with AWS EKS, Porter, or similar Kubernetes management platforms.
• Familiarity with modern data stack technologies such as dbt, Snowflake, and CDC tools including Debezium or Estuary.
• Experience working in fintech or other regulated environments, particularly with PCI DSS or SOC 2 requirements.
